Singing voice
Song is a universal language
When we use our voice to express that music, we sing.
MEHR
Singing not only develops a melodic quality in our speech, but also furthers our sense of rhythm and the musical sentience of a scenic situation.
These are some of the reasons why singing is part of every acting training program and certainly part of your professioanl future as an actor.

Theatre History
Theatre, Film and Art History
Acting is a genre within the arts. The evolution of humanity is composed of a stream of eras and their artforms,
MEHR
and over centuries refined artistic traditions. Actors/Actresses specialise in the illustrative expression of the individual. Therefore knowledge of theatre, film and art history is the prerequisite for a sensible further expansion of them. Beyond that is the work of other artists, an indespensable motivation for our work.

Martial Arts for stage and film
Those who know how to fight, don't have to fight.
Successful actors/actresses are acrobatically developed and know how to move skilfully for stage and screen.
MEHR
Directors demand confrontations to also be played out physically. When working in film or on stage it is a daily occurence. Martial Arts training for actors/actresses also forms healthy and expressive personalities and takes away fears of physical altercations when inevitable.

Acting
The presentation of life and art
Stage and camera presence require a spatially developed personality to accompany an audience through a story.
MEHR
In a sense the actor/actress guides through the story of the play and takes part in the decision of how their audience perceives it.
For the actor/actress it is their job, for the audience a game to experience and therefore a vital resource for our society since time immemorial.
Within the fictions of artistic space humanity can free itself from the everyday accountabilities of life. The origins of this process go back to ancient history and are known as catharsis. A consequence of catharsis is the experience of freedom and an awareness of happines expanded by the performance. Professional acting nowadays is a deeply rooted part of our society and an important branch of our economy.

Speech
The art of communication
Humans are empathetic beings and therefore communication especially is a very essential desire for all of us. Recognised leading personalities of our time are all versed in speech and shape theirs creatively.
MEHR
To speak in and of itself is already an artistically fulfilling process. The articulation of speech influences the experience of our listeners far more than usually suspected. Additionally the audience in a theatre might be located further away from the stage. Those seated in the galleries expect to understand what is being said as well. In film a carrying voice proves to be invaluable and really extraordinary ones are few and far between. For the audience an auditory experience of exceptional quality will make up the lion share of their experience of the play or film as a whole and is therefore the most important tool of the actor/actress.

Dance
Life in motion continues its expression through the body
Every role on stage and in film can physically be seen as a sort of dance. Dancing develops the body and its ability to relate spatially.
MEHR
Second only to the articalution of speech, the articulation of movement is the most important tool of the actor/actress to tell a story. Dance awakens a lust for life and a vigour in the audience as well as in the actor/actress themselves. Dance is the realisation of inspiration into motion.
Workshops
Film scenes and demo reel material
There's only one way to learn acting for film: Making movies and being in front of the camera!
How do we work as film actors/actresses on a set? To answer this question we need to understand the work of the different departments which comprise a film set.
MEHR
The only way to learn about these, is practical work within film and its professional circumstances. We continuously form film teams who conceptualise scenes and put them in action in front of the camera. Under „Projects“ as well as on Youtube you can find numerous examples. What most people fail to see: Stage work is still the best training for actors/actresses in film, because film presence is a distilled presence for theatre! All exceptional film actors/actresses keep returning to the stage as well.
Workshops
Photo shoots
Your photos are your gateway to the profession
Photo shoots are of an extraordinary quality at the Artrium. Through a picture of you „your soul can speak to the viewer“. That is what successful casting directors want to see.
MEHR
Professional work with a well versed photographer is the prerequisite for learning and applying the secrets of the art of acting in photo shoots. Work in front of a photo camera follows a similar set of rules as the work in front of a film camera. A crew is needed to guarantee truly exceptional pictures which will captivate an audience or an agency. These include professional lighting, make up as well as a sepcialised set up. Photogarphy competitions are an added incentive for our students to engage with camera work and compete artistically with others.
Workshops
Excursions
An actor/actress is an artist and fosters the arts.
Visiting libraries, museums, photography exhibitions, film festivals, theatre productions and relevant film screenings are just as much part of our training
MEHR
as are training camps out in the open country and special excursions into specific departments of the performing arts. The ultimate growth of our actors/actresses results from their wealth of experiences. We continuously incorporate special projects such as performances in unique locations, poetry slams, festivals, exhibitions i.e. photography and art installations... and many more.
Workshops
Productions
ON stage, ON cameras
Going on and going off, again and again, theatre scenes and entire plays, film scenes and and films as a whole are the basis of steady acting training.
MEHR
Even when starting out small on the big stages of Hamburg, it further hones your talents. The projects and productions, work for film and television that we partake in are a reflection of our work today and tomorrow, and are an opportunity as well as a challenge for every young actor/actress.
